So, about 2 years ago, I decided to knit myself a sweater. I had similar weight yarn...used the needle size in the pattern and away I went. It was knit from the bottom to top, on circulars, so I didn't notice how big this really was. Hit a snag at the separation of the arms and took it to a LYS for help...she explained that this was huge and recommended I frog and start over. It has been sitting in a bag since. I will be frogging soon and I have a pattern in mind. BUT I WILL DO A GAUGE SWATCH first. :-)

Just say it's an extreme cowl or something!! This is so funny. I've made some sweaters that were too big, but never by several feet!! But hey, look at all of that yarn you'll have to start something new!!

I did that a couple of weeks ago, not that large though. It really is true. When you have it on the circulars it's hard to tell how long it really is!
You may even have enough there to make a whole sweater! :)

Yeah, done that. Even with swatching. I was working on a modularly-knit top and very very carefully figured out what size diamonds I'd need to have the right size fit. I got to about 1/3 of the way done (bottom up), and damn if it isn't big enough for two of me.
And each diamond is knit separately, which means that I have a billion ends to weave in, which means that I'll have a billion tiny balls of yarn when I rip it out.
*sigh*

... have you ever seen ella enchanted? ... if only some of those giants in the movie were for real, you could have kept knitting and given the finished object to one of them. lol. :P
